I’ve been involved with art in one form or another almost all my life. But recently, Sleeping Babies have captivated my imagination and captured my heart.
While in high school I participated in plays, painted sets and designed programs. In college I won several best actress awards, designed and staged plays and had my art used for illustrations on a local television station (WGAL).
After college I got my masters in theater with a concentration in set and costume design. While teaching, I designed and painted sets for the plays I directed on both the middle school and high school levels.
When I left education to get married, I began to paint murals, furniture and paper maché orbs. This led to a decorative arts business with my sister which we named Hold Fast after the scripture — to that which is good, hold fast.
In 1993 our family moved to Hanover where I joined the Hanover Area Arts Guild. I’ve been on the board for twenty years and have served as Vice President, Secretary, and Chairperson of both the Gallery and Scholarship Committees.
During this time I’ve won several awards for my acrylic paintings and expanded my work to include portraits. Although I’ve done family and corporate portraits, I’m currently concentrating on painting sleeping children since they have a way of touching one’s heart and putting life into perspective.
